Let me bring you up to date. I have spent a lot of time this year on social media [Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIN, Classmates] trying to raise funds for the SHS Scholarships Program. To date, I must rate this effort as unsuccessful. Social media does not seem to be an effective way to generate personal donations to the cause. However, it seems to have brought more attention to the cause.
This is an example of what I have posted recently …
Hi Mr & Mrs Springfield Grad, I am the owner of LogHomesByJack.com and started the SHS Scholarships Program in my hometown of Springfield, Ohio.
Latest Update:
SHS Scholarships Program for new SHS grads. We have received $9,300+ in donations since we started. We need $26,000 more to begin making awards for our new 2014 SHS grads. The Goal is $1 million. IF every SHS, North and South grad were to give $20.13 every year, we would reach our goal of $1,000,000 in just 4 years.
Send all donations directly to The Springfield Foundation [New address below]. Call Jack should you have questions or if you know of a company or organization that might wish to become more directly involved in promotions and fundraising. Thanks ... jack57shs on twitter at 800 767-4916
Incidentally, when we reach $35,000 in donations, The SHS Scholarships Program receives free “mention” in the Springfield Foundation literature. Thanks for your past donations and for all present and future donations.
2008 = $700.00 = $700.00
2009 = $2,128.00 = $2,828
2010 = $2,237.10 = $5,065.10
2011 = $2,409.57 = $7,474.67
2012 = $1,209.84 = $8,684.51
2013 = $639.14 thru Q3 = $9,323.65
As you can see, our donations have fallen off over the last two years. This is due no doubt to our stagnant economy. I know that my donations have tailed off due to poor sales. Hopefully, the economy will improve for all of us in 2014. That was then. This is now.
I am asking you to make a 2013 donation to help grow the SHS Scholarships Program. In addition, please help us spread the word to your friends. We never know when donations are just hanging out there waiting for someone like you to ask the question. Obviously, every $20.13 donation counts.
Feel free to print out this post and share it with your family, friends, colleagues, classmates and reunion groups.
Thanks and Best wishes always,
Jack
